The Team

Krystle Lemonias is an interdisciplinary visual artist, labor activist, and art educator living and working in Northern New Jersey. Krystle is primarily influenced by her research on social class privilege, citizenship, labor rights, and how economic inequality impacts Black communities. She uses found materials, fabric, and iconography to communicate these themes. Krystle uses her work as an educational tool to learn about Black immigrant cultural identity and its connection to the broader diaspora.

She had a solo exhibition, Yu cyaan ketch Quaku, yu ketch im shut, with Andrew Rafacz Gallery, and has been exhibited at Blum and Poe in the Show Me the Signs exhibition for #sayhername campaign. 

Marlon Tobias is a Chicago-based visual artist and educator  who is influenced by the marginalized narratives of the communities he is a part of. As New York native born from a mother of southern roots and a father of Jamaican descent, Marlon is informed by history and the multifaceted spirit of the African diaspora. Using the history of drawing and painting as an anchor, he chronicles the rich stories framed within the context of my subject’s daily lives.

Marlon’s latest exhibition, To Come Together, To Get Together, was shown at Art Center Sarasota . His works have been shown at the Museum of Florida Art and Culture and the Contemporary Art Museum in Tampa, Florida.

Media Specialist

Kirsten Pettifor is a Tallahassee based artist, writer and caregiver whose work focuses on trauma and recovery. Her work is created with accessibility in mind, focusing on  pieces that can be seen and shared easily with the general public. 

She is currently working on a speculative fiction novel, taking inspiration from Scandinavian folklore and her experience with trauma and the effects of C-PTSD. Along with an animated cooking series involving her grandmother and the discussion of generational trauma.
